Baltimore Update

This past weekend we flew out to see Dr. Gearhart at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD. Our trip there was a little more difficult than it was supposed to be but we made it. Our flight from KC to Newark got cancelled so we had to take a flight to LaGuardia in NYC. Mimi had to get a driver for us because she didn't know how to get there and your first trip to LaGuardia shouldn't be at 11:00 p.m. We landed and had what anyone from here in the midwest would call a typical New Yorker driving us to Pennington, NJ. He even said "Forget About It", but in that New Yorker dialect. Since one of the bridges had construction he had to drive us through Harlem to get through Manhattan, so now we can say we were in Harlem around midnight. We finally got to Mimi's house about 2:00 a.m. and didn't get much sleep that night.

On Friday we headed over to Uncle Jer and Aunt Mel's house to see them and all of the cousins; Bryce, Cayden and Clara. We were able to play there all day long and had a great time. Friday evening we headed to Baltimore because we had to be at the hospital by 6:00 a.m. on Saturday. This appointment was so Dr. Gearhart could reevaluate the size of Robbie's bladder to see if it was big enough to be put away this summer. In order to evalute the bladder Robbie had to be put to sleep, hence the reason we had to be there so early for a 7:30 a.m. appointment.

Everyone was very excited to hear that Robbie's bladder is big enough and it will be able to be finally but back where it belongs this summer. Dr. Gearhart was booked up through September but when we told him that we only get 10 days of vacation and then get docked pay after that he said he would squeeze us in this summer since we will be in the hospital for probably 8 weeks. We are still waiting to hear from his secretary on when we will be able to get booked but we are hoping that it happens sooner than later.

Thank you so much for everyones thoughts and prayers, as they have helped our little boy out so much. We are hoping by this fall to have a little guy that doesn't have to worry about a body part that is supposed to be inside being on the outside. We will definitely keep everyone updated once we find out about the surgery date.

Somebody Turned 1

On May 17th our little boy turned 1 and where did the time go. It just seems like yesterday that we were blessed with this little angel and we really can't remember what our life was like before he arrived. We had a nice birthday party for him on the Saturday before the big day and had a great turnout of family and friends. Although the weather didn't cooperate much we were still able to fire up the grill and have some burgers, brats and hot dogs. We knew that he was a spoiled little boy already but all the birthday presents really pushed the spoiledness over the edge. I think that he has more toys than Wal-Mart now. We can't wait to see what this next year brings us, but as long as he keeps entertaining us like he has we know it will be eventful.

Momma's Friend Terri

Saree's friend Terri made the trip up from Texas a few weeks ago and was able to spend a long weekend with us and we had a great time. Robbie loved being around Terri and was sad when she headed back to Texas. Terri was able to be here for Robbie's birthday and was a very big help in getting the house ready for the party.

Saree and Terri played basketball together at Incarnate Word University in San Antonio and have remained great friends throughout the years since college. We hope Terri can get back up here very soon to come see us again.

Baltimore Update

We are heading out to Baltimore to have Dr. Gearhart re-evaluate Robbie's bladder size on May 21st. We will be flying into Newark on the night of the 19th and staying with Mimi for a few nights. The appointment will require Robbie to be put to sleep so Dr. Gearhart can get a good look at things. We are hoping and praying that his bladder has grown enough so it can be put away this summer. We are excited to not only get the bladder checked but to spend a few days with Mimi, Uncle Jer, Aunt Mel, Bryce & C2.

Easter

I know this is a little late, but wanted to update everyone on Robbie's 1st Easter. We were very lucky to be able to spend that time with Mimi, as she flew in on Thursday and stayed until Tuesday. Easter Sunday was a nice day for the family, we went to church, then to a nice lunch and then were able to snap a lot of pictures of Robbie. I hope that you guys enjoy these pictures as much as we do. The little guy is getting so big and if he wasn't such a wimp, should be walking by now. Instead, he just scales the walls or uses his walking car to get anywhere he needs to get to.
